Drawn to the soft color in this stone, that led me to carve this figure. He has become one of my favorite sculptures, for he is very easy going.

This fellow has a spirit that is both gentle, and wise.

Stone speaks to me; each sculpture has a definitive language.

One has only to listen to hear, in one cares to listen at all. Please allow me to welcome~~Prospect~~to our world. I’m very fond of his easygoing, kind demeanor. Enjoy your selves my dear friends,

New York has many museums, after all the time that had passed I made this one museum a priority. My Professor had suggested I visit the NY Historical Society. It is located on Central Park West & 77 Th St, opposite The American Museum of Natural History.

It may I add has the finest collection of marble sculpture, this American Indian is one example of the collection.   In this stone sculpture I’m fascinated with the realism, in both size of an actually Indian, yet beyond the figure is the contemplation in the pose that tells me of a time, that was, and in my opinion still exists.

Until all men are free, we are all captive .

I’ve always held our American Natives to be gifted, soulful, and some how almost forgotten.

I bow in respect to the artist who had expressed in stone, such a tale of so great a people.

Greetings to all my friends, It has been a year of blessings.

We are all a part of this experience called life.   Ive set my hands to work in stone subjects.  They have endured time itself, I first was drwan to stone sculpture  when my dear mother Helen had taken me to the 1964 Worlds Fair here in New York Citys Flushing Meadows Park.

SDC11289A wise and considerate human being was my mother Helen, the heart of an angel.

There we journeyed to the Vatican Pavilion. Clasping my hand  I recall my first impression of Michelangelo’s Pieta.  Yes, his masterpiece had been on tour and was graciously seated feet from me and my precious mother Helen. It spurred an interest  that still lives in me this very new year friends.

My hands are being guided by the need to create a voice in stone.      This stone you see is named Ruins, a mixture of impressions made while I had traveled in cities of Antiquity.   Traveleing in Italy, Egypt , Greece, I’ ve attempted to create a miniature of ancient Ruins.

This photo is my gift to all who see it, as we as brothers, sisters welcome our New Year 2012.

I bow to our lives, pray for our joys, travel in my heart for all that is good.

A Happy New Year, my dear friends,

Jerry Torre
