~~Debut of Grey Gardens the Original Documentry at Lincoln Center~~
Albert and his brother David Maysles had returned to the mansion after there first attempt in filming.
The first film was sponsored by Lee Radziwill,Mrs.Onnassis`s sister. During the first film which I called Vintage Grey Gardens the mansion and the grounds had been left to the ravages of nature. It was most difficult to enter the surroundings ,the grounds were nearly impassable due to years of over growth.
The Cadillac a 1937 sedan remained exactly where ‘Schaffer the designated driver, the chauffeur had driven it the last day it had been running. Upon returning to the mansion after this Vintage Grey Gardens film had been shelved by Lee. Evidently Lee was alarmed by the very conditions within the mansion. Thus seeing the interior of the mansion which had been closed to everyone ,except Mrs.Beale ,Edie , at one time Thomas Logan .
T.Logan had passed away ,he was the last person to enter the mansion since his death in the mansion. I myself was invited into the mansion, thus the lives of Mrs.Beale and of course her daughter Edie years later, the year was 1973. Time had passed , the filming mentioned had been shelved,Albert had returned to the mansion requesting a new film be made. It was a matter of my asking Mrs.Beale to once again allow Al & David to produce the film shortly afterwards named Grey Gardens.
Edie had been invited to the premier of Grey Gardens at Lincoln Center ,New York City. That night Mrs.Beale and I shared our thoughts, the night Edie had set off to Lincoln Center. I found this poster in the subway ,only recently . There in the corner of my eye as the train had begun leaving the station was the photo of Edie from the cover of the film. This time in my life was filled with fascination,it began the after noon I stumbled upon Mrs.Beales mansion Grey Gardens.
