~Temple~ Art Students League Class Show
While painting an outline on this one particular stone weighing 400 lbs, my professor took notice of this new undertaking.
Professor Sussman had walked around my stand looked at me then told me to stop carving this stone. That I did as all his comments captured my attention. My plans on the particular stone were to carve a dragon like figure, mouth wide open with a set of fangs above and on the lower jaw. Teeth & tongue of a lively creature spun from my imagination spurred on from my recent trip to Chichen Itza Mexico.
So of course I was struck by such a passionate suggestion that I stop carving this stone, and to leave it exactly as it was at that time.
My respect for Professor Sussman’s expertise did allow me to complete this sculpture and call it complete.
Ive named this sculpture “Temple” and after we did set up our class show last night have begun to see the strength in this completely unplanned sculpture in `Indiana Limestone`.
It does have primitive air & if I may say a bit sexy as well as religious now that it has been set in full view in the gallery.

I love it, the drawing on them give it a natural trible look that works with the stone. love and light Donna
I like your new sculpture but would also like to see the dragon that you were going to do one day. Great Job!!!!!Betty
Hi Betty!
Temple had been as you may know the begining of a series of dragon like figures. This series had been ongoing. My Professor was guite excited when he first observed temple. Temple has been given the title “First in Show” this week. Im honored to have one of my scultures acknoledged by my piers.
Ive chosen the second stone weighing 400 lbs for “Techmusah # 2″. This sculpture will reflect in my own style a dragon.
The series of these subjects will be ongoing.
Please know that I am touched that you have taken the time to visit my website.
Ive so much work in front of me,it is a good life one I love to share.

Excellent Jerry! Hope you enjoy the show. This sculpture captures a completely different air than your last sculptures. (They seemed to me almost Romaneque or even VIKING in style, but this is reminiscent of both PRIMITIVE AS WELL AS Abstract, almost Daliesque. Love it! Sean
